at a local Ward.  On the way up, through Sacramento, disaster grazes -- rather than strikes.  Amidst stopped traffic in a narrow two-lane construction zone (oh, rather that we had chosen the adjacent right lane beyond the barrier, which continued to move smoothly), a car comes roaring up from behind, brakes burning and squealing, semi-fishtailing.  Miracle of miracles: easing our vehicle to the extreme right, the errant auto sails through the just-barely-wide enough gap in the middle formed by the transport to the left of us moving to the opposite extreme.  Bang!  A horrific sound, but only our driver's-side mirror is compromised... indeed, shattered... but well-built enough such that the framework simply snaps back into place sometime down the road.  An exchange of information follows, and we hope that the not-completely-observant driver will satisfy all debts...

After the healthful hike, a conconclusion down the scenic Auburn Ravine Old Road

near Confluence (North / Middle Forks of the American River) and the No-Hands Bridge,

returning to prepare publication of the flute-piano Mary Variations: VI. Monteverdi Mary,

over rapt / wrapped videos, on the just-barely 27th day of summer, high 71 (a decidedly chillier 62 during the stroll), with a trace of rain: .01 (with March 11's [!!] .09, a total of only .1 for the month, and 15.94 since July 1)...
